Hey!  We're so glad you're here.

At the SOAR collective, we're all about community. We agree with Mariame Kaba, who says "everything worthwhile is done with other people." We hope you'll join us.

We are three young-ish women (Black, white, and multi-racial Latina) and anti-violence advocates who are ready for change, ready for a revolution, and ready to hold our organizations accountable. For the past five years or so, we have worked with advocates, prevention educators, leadership, and other staff at local sexual and domestic violence agencies. We continue to hear about the pain, disappointment, frustration, and discrimination staff experience on a daily basis. We can relate because we've experienced it ourselves, too. And for a while now we've been waiting for someone to come up with a solution... but we're not waiting any longer.

We've been inspired by activists and authors like adrienne maree brown, who writes in her book, Emergent Strategy, "How do we turn our collective full-bodied attention toward collaboration, if that is the way we will survive?" And by Sonya Renee Taylor, who writes in her book, The Body Is Not An Apology, "We must build in us, what we want to see built in the world."

Are you ready to collectively build the kind of organizations we all deserve to work at? Are you ready to create anti-violence organizations that don't perpetuate violence and oppression? Are you ready to create meaningful and lasting change? If your answer is yes, we invite you to join us on this journey. It won't be easy, but we'll be in it together.
